Food Fight: Bill's Drive-In Vs. Lake Zoar Drive-In

A friendly competition over who has the best breakfasts, burgers and dogs.

Monroe has two eateries with diverse menus and car shows. Lake Zoar Drive-In gets heavy traffic on Route 34 and Bill's Drive-In is usually packed on Route 111. During the warmer months, both restaurants host car shows.

In this new feature on the most popular places in town, Food Fight is a friendly competition in which readers register on the site (if they have not already) and post positive reviews on their favorite eatery. The one with the most reviews by Thursday is crowned the winner.

To cast your vote, visit the listing page of either Bill's Drive-In or Lake Zoar Drive-In and post a positive review in the Comments section on the page. Patch will count the reviews on Thursday morning.

Bills is good, but (in my humble opinion) Mr. Mac's by far the better place for drive in food.

Bill's is better for everything but hot dogs. There I have to defer to Lake Zoar.

Both have good food, but Zoar beats Bill's in pricing. Plus I can order and pull up in my boat to pick it up!

Plus I don't have to fight the Range Rovers from NY during the holiday season at Zoar.

Mr. Mac's will definitely be in some of these features. Just doing the two drive-ins right now because of how similar their operations are with car shows etc.

Haven't been to Zoar's yet, I'll have to try it with what I've heard. I do like Mr. Mac's a lot though, cheap delicious food.

Bill's food is super (the menu has everything!), service is excellent, and it's a traditional meeting place for the friendliest people in town. It's an institution!

Bill's food is okay, but the only time I was ever there the guy behind the counter was super cranky. Give me Mr. Mac's any day!

Mr Mac's has all that and more. Better food, better price and the best chili dog in the area, hands down. Bill's over priced cranky owners. Lake Zoar dirty with no seating. Macs wins.

Sorry Arnold we always pride ourselves with great housekeeping. I guess when you visited us all our seats may have been filled, I know we don't have as many as the other two but most everyone tells us it's charming. We welcome you back anytime to give us another try.

Thought about visiting Lake Zoar because of this article. Never been there. Just changed my mind, but not because of Arnold.

Mr. Mac's Canteen not invited cuz they woulda blew both places away in a second! They do the job of both those places and w/ like only 3 people! They handle a line of people during lunch and I still have time to eat it before my break is over! I went o Bills once cuz it was closer and by the time the kid gave me my way overly expensive sandwich and drink I had to eat it over my desk at work! That guy at the front is like a cool drill sergeant and barks out stuff to the other 2 who cook super fast and grab drinks same time too. The front guy remembers all the food for each person in line! Macs awesomee Chilidogs and the Mild is good too but can only get on Thursdays.Well worth going across town takes only 10 minutes on a good day.

Lake Zoar by Far....
Great Menu, good prices & wonderful service.
I have always been treated like dirt at Bill's. Antime I have gone in there the woman behind the counter tells everyone how much of a gambling problem she has & the older guy never smiles & snaps at people. Very rude service

Agreed. The old guy yells at both employees and customers alike. Kind of sad, because the product is pretty good.

It's called diversity.....They all have their own niche market....Mr Macs if you're out on 25 fighting traffic.......Bill's if you happen to be sitting in the lines on 111......or Zoar Beach if you want to go for a leisurely drive down to enjoy the lake views.
