Where in Monroe Was This Breakfast Whipped Up?

An omelette, home fries and toast were just what I needed for a late breakfast/early lunch.

This establishment in Monroe served up this terrific breakfast meal.

I probably could have eaten the entire thing. But knowing how fattening and problematic carbs - like home fries and bread - can be for one's health, I tried not to finish it all. The home fries were delicious, though.

I did finish my three-egg omelette with peppers. I realize eggs have gotten a bum rap. But then here and there, I hear there are wonderful health benefits from eggs - among other benefits, they provide B2, B12, and selenium.

Plus, I feel like I never get enough protein in my diet, so I get it when I can. This egg dish was good and healthy - I didn't ask for any fattening extras in it - but it was still delish!

Can you guess where I ate this meal?

That's a Last Drop Coffee Shop plate and table, and they are the only place in town that serves on real plates with plastic utensils. Definitely not Rustic Grille.

Not sure but the Masonic lodge on fan hill does a country breakfast every third Sunday of the month and I think the price is $6.00 a person
Great food and great people at a very reasonable price

Yup....... it's Last Drop. Good food but boss is a bully and fires good help! The food isn't good enough to keep me and many others as customers anymore.

mmhmm...soooo, why did she get fired? Just curious. I mean, people generally get fired for reasons...otherwise, they'd have a case to get their job back. So, instead of a one-sided slander, why don't you enlighten us?

Sure thing, Chris........... A regular customer, who comes in 5 days a week - was short on his lunch purchase totalling $2.30. He asked if he could pay that the next day. the employee had all intentions of taking it out of her tips at the end of the day but was fired before her shift was ended. She is a good worker, dedicated, honest Christian woman who was all for that business! She covered many internal errors because she respected her employeer. It was unjust, disrespectful and slanderous. They lost a very strong worker who was NOT stealing, but rather keeping a steady customer - also her friend - comfortable to keep coming back to the establishment. I understand the point of the owner expressing if he didn't want her to extend such a favor, but firing her for $2.30 was so stupid. His loss.......

From a business owner's standpoint, the red flag in your statement was that this regular customer was also her 'friend'. I can understand the owners skepticism. She should have put the money in immediately.

Know what, Chris, you are more than right. Thing is that they are not able to touch the tip jar until their shift is finished. She would have taken it out of her own purse except it was one of those empty pocket days. We have all had that, I'm sure. She would have never done this for a stranger so being that this regular is also a friend is why she trusted his word to pay the next day. Like I stated, as a business owner I also understand the owners skepticism but who the heck would "steal" $2.30???? and jepordize the job that she loved so much???

I'm just saying...you can disagree, but to slander a business because someone you liked was fired isn't a nice thing to do. Doesn't make the owner a bully. This is very one sided

Although it may seem one sided......there is so much more that can't be said here. I am not slandering a business, I am stating facts. It seems that perhaps you know this owner to be so defensive. Thats ok...... its just that you are misinformed to the other facts involved with many others who have worked for him. I thought he was such a nice guy... seems he isnt. I am not here to bicker or keep score as to who is right and who is wrong. I am too old for that grammer school game. Just know this...... they lost a very, very good worker who loved the business and loved the owner! End.......

Nope, I don't know the owner. I just go for a coffee here and there. I'm more concerned with this town losing another business because someone is misinforming the public.

Thanks for guessing everyone!! All great guesses! The first person to guess right was Christine E., who spotted a great hint, the plastic utensils. I had a feeling the utensils might give it away. Peg was onto the plastic utensils first - she noticed them too. Fun playing with you guys. See you next time the Traveling Plate comes to town!

This is directed at JoAnn Toth. I am Jennifer Olimpieri, the wife of the so-called "bully". You need to get your information correct before you should post inaccurate information on a public site. The employee that you speak about was let go due to giving out food to multiple "friends and family at a discounted rate she was not at liberty to give on many, many occassions. It had absolutely nothing to do with giving a customer a "waiver" for not having sufficient amount of funds. We have had given our regular customers that same consideration numerous times. The fact of the matter of touching the tip jar is also completey inaccurate. It seems, JoAnn, that you have been given information from someone who can not fess up to what she did. Thank you Christine for seeing the blatant ignorance that some people behold.

And, as expected, there are two sides to every story. JoAnn, what you're doing is defamation. Shouldn't do that.

For everyone's information I happen to know for a fact what actully happened and everything stated above couldn't be farther from the truth. The employee was fired because she was giving a friend food at a discount. The "customer" was a friend who visited everyday and got breakfast everyday for half price. The tip jar is certainly not off limits to employees during the shift that is their money. So, JoAnn no disrespect but you should get your facts straight before publicly posting things about someone else's business.

CT is an "at will" state when it comes to employment law. An employer can fire any employee for any reason or for no reason.
