CLINICAL ISSUES IN PSYCHOLOGICAL, NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL, & SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

This presentation will focus on techniques of psychological and neuropsychological assessment to promote awareness of the children who may benefit from psychological and neuropsychological examinations.  In addition, this presentation will focus on the role of assessments to diagnose children with disabilities and to direct therapeutic and special education programming for students with ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Language & Auditory Processing Disorders, Medical Disorders of the Central Nervous System (Cancer, Seizure Disorders, TBI) and children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders.   This presentation will discuss the role of mental health assessment as part of a psychological and neuropsychological evaluation and structural distinctions between school psychologist evaluations and licensed psychologist evaluations. 

About the speaker: 
Michael Cohen, Ph.D., ABPP, Director, Neuropsychological & Diagnostic Services, is a Board Certified Rehabilitation Psychologist and clinically trained neuropsychologist.  The pediatric portion of his practice is dedicated to
children with complex learning, developmental and medical disorders.  Dr. Cohen also sees adult patients with neurological disease.  Dr. Cohen received graduate training at Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley and he completed an advanced UAP/LEND postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in pediatric psychology and clinical neuropsychology.   www.michaelcohenphd.com
