Monroe Rails Trails Tour May 31

Welcome aboard: In this scene circa 1910, a steam engine chugs into Stepney Depot where locals have assembled with an early car in the background. The site is one of four stops on the Monroe Historical Society’s May 31 (Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Rail Trails Tour, an excursion by bus into Monroe’s past, underwritten by Bernie Sippin, with presentations by historical authorities steeped in the lore of the Golden Age of Railroading.  Tickets are available at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library in Monroe on a first-come-first-served basis. Riders can also order box lunches from a varied menu.  Additional information: mmoss36@yahoo.com
