Original Rock Opera "The Devil Plays Poker"

The Devil Plays Poker - A rock opera by Monroe's Christoph Whitbeck.

The Devil Plays Poker is a dark, cautionary tale about gambling, guns, and a deal too good to be true.  While supernatural elements abound, the story is about the human struggle to balance one's life, love, happiness, and money.  The fully-original work will be performed in its entirety, as intended by the creator, Monroe native Christoph Whitbeck, who in addition to writing and playing the guitar for the show, produced and directed the performance.

Christoph grew up in Monroe, CT, forming his first rock band, Indignant Smile, during his sophomore year at Masuk High School.  When he's not directing rock operas at his home in New Haven, you can find him behind the counter at Creative Music Center in Monroe, renting you an instrument or signing you up for some music lessons!  He is premiering his first original rock opera, The Devil Plays Poker, for Halloween 2013.

Performances will be at the historic Lyric Hall in New Haven's Westville district.  The show opens Halloween night, Thursday Oct. 31, and runs through Sunday November 3.  All shows are at 8:00 PM with a pre-show reception at 7:00 (BYOB).  Tickets ($10) are available at http://TheDevilPlaysPoker.bpt.me
