TOP 10 REASONS FOR CHANGE

VOTE ROW B ON NOVEMBER 5

1.       IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS…

·         The First Selectman chose to violate and ignore the Freedom of Information Act, leaving the community in a void of ignorance.

·         The First Selectman chose to ignore the Town’s Scenic Road Ordinance by approving repaving to Garder Road without Planning and Zoning approval.

2.       RELIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY ARE NOT OPTIONAL

·         The First Selectman consistently ignores his own open door policy and regular business hours while failing to attend and participate in town board and commission meetings.

·         The First Selectman consistently ignores his own policy by failing to supply requested information to Town Council.

3.       PUBLIC STATEMENTS DO NOT MATCH REALITY

·         It is time to get beyond the surface. It doesn’t matter how many times the First Selectman says action will be taken if no action ever is taken.  His go to response - “I’ll get back to you” – will not be an acceptable answer anymore.

4.       YOUR VISION OF THE TOWN MATTERS

·         This town deserves a budget that reflects YOURwants and needs.  A budget must create a community that draws people to live in Monroe and makes them want to stay.

·         The First Selectman’s vision of development was a garbage recycling plant on the Stevenson Lumber property.

5.       PROCRASTINATION IS NOT PREPARATION

·         In his four years in office, the First Selectman has continuously delayed maintenance and repair on deteriorating town facilities that bonding is now required for repairs.

·         The First Selectman’s lack of leadership, procrastination and preparation has led to the resignation of numerous department heads and members of town boards and commissions including the Board of Finance Chair and Planning & Zoning Chair in the last two years.

6.       THE BUDGET IS THERE FOR A REASON

·         The First Selectman has allowedAttorney’s Fees of more than$1,000,000.00 (and counting) over the approved budget appropriations.

·         The First Selectman does not have the authority to recklessly rubber stamp and ignore the Town approved budget while other departments suffer budget freezes.

7.       THE LAW APPLIES TO EVERYONE

·         The First Selectman has allegedly violated State Law and will be investigated by the State Elections Enforcement Commission for using Town resources for his reelection.

·         After a Town Meeting was illegally held, the First Selectman sought a legislative fix without the consent, approval or knowledge of any elected official in town except himself. The laws of the Town and of the State must be followed – the First Selectman is not above them.

8.       THIS TOWN DESERVES A CLEAR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

·         The First Selectman has consistently refused and failed to give this town the economic development plan it deserves in order to bring revenue to the town and lower our taxes.

·         A short-term and long-term plan is required and over his four years in office, the First Selectman has not provided one.

9.       OPPORTUNITIES ARE PASSING US BY

·         Due to the First Selectman’s lack of leadership and understanding of Monroe’s need for revenue, numerous grant opportunities have been ignored and lost.

·         The First Selectman’s admission to spending at least 2 hours a day on social media has not created economic development and lowered residential taxes.

10.   THE TIME FOR ACTION IS ALWAYS, NOT JUST PRE-ELECTION

·         The only time the First Selectman seems to take any real action is directly before he is up for re-election.  In what can only be described as miraculous, the Monroe Police facility was opened, the Planning and Zoning Regulations redrafted, the Jockey Hollow Fire Department/EMS building was repaired, and a “promised” 160,000 square foot “big box” type store on Route 25.

Remember the Past, Recognize the Present, Vote for the Future. It is time for a change.
