Trumbull Racquet Club 10 And Under Team Wins State Championships

 

Trumbull, CT – The Trumbull Racquet Club 10 and Under Advance Junior Team Tennis (JTT) team won the USTA Connecticut District Championships on Tuesday, August 6th.  The team went 2-0 in the round robin format to win their first USTA Connecticut Championship.

Mike Slattery, 10 and Under Tennis Director at Trumbull Racquet Club, coached the team throughout the season.  “It’s been great to see the work that we’ve been doing has paid off.  Our players did a great job,” said Slattery, who is also on the Board of Directors of Evolve 9.

The USTA Connecticut 10 and Under District Championships were held at East Shore Park in New Haven.  The site featured four 36 foot courts, specifically made for 10 and Under Tennis. 

 

The 10 and Under Advance JTT team competed against Milford Indoor Tennis and The Tennis Club at Chelsea Piers in the event.  Trumbull won both of the matches with the scores of 24-6 and 23-14, respectively. 

 

Ginny Dragone, Manager of Trumbull Racquet Club, has supported all of the USTA JTT teams that play at Trumbull Racquet.  “USTA Junior Team Tennis has been great for our junior players,” said Dragone.  “Our junior players get to play in a fun team atmosphere which is something that tennis hasn’t traditionally offered for juniors their age.”
