A Butterfly Garden Keeps Susan Kimball's Memory Alive

A dedication ceremony was recently held at Webb Mountain Discovery Zone

Webb Mountain Discovery Zone dedicated its Butterfly Garden to John and Jill Kimball's daughter Susan, 8, who died in a swing accident two years ago.

A ceremony with family and friends was held at the park on June 29. Angela Cross, communications director of the Webb Mountain Discovery Zone, welcomed everyone and thanked many members of the community who were instrumental to the creation of the garden.

Special thanks went to Ken Twombly, who designed the garden and donated the memorial plaque, and to Girl Scout troops, who maintain the garden on a regular basis.

Two of Susan's close friends, Ember Strickland and Kelli Smith, along with Stephanie delCampo, Susan's neighbor and babysitter, shared very special memories of Susan.

The garden is a beautiful memorial for the entire community to enjoy, dedicated to a girl who loved nature.
