Another Severely Malnourished Dog Found Wandering in Area

Shelter is looking for the owners and donations to help with medical costs.

The Ansonia Animal Shelter is asking area residents for help identifying the owners of a malnourished pit bull found wandering around in Ansonia Tuesday and for any donations to help with its care.

The poor creature was found a week after another emaciated dog was discovered on Booth Hill Road in Shelton.

The female pit bull found in Ansonia Tuesday was taken to a local veternarian for care, according to the Ansonia Animal Shelter.

“She is extremely weak and can barely stand up,” Mary Sirochman wrote in a post on the shelter’s Facebook page. “Every bone in her body is visible and on top of this she has a large tumor on her body. She will need to gain weight and get strong before it can be removed.”

The shelter has started a fundraising campaign on Fundrazr.com and received nine donations totaling $200 in the first three hours.

“She is at a vet’s officer where she had a yummy bowl of food that she hasn’t had in a very long time,” Sirochman said. “She is resting but she will need a lot of medical attention… She has a very long road ahead.”

Anyone with information about the dog’s owners is asked to contact the shelter at 203-410-7716.
