Big Brothers Big Sisters Truck Collects Donations

A big white truck parked at the Monroe Farmers' Markets is being used to collect donations for Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation, a Bridgeport based non-profit providing mentors for children.

Linda Murphy, a representative of the foundation, said, "You can bring as many donations as you like, clothing, household items, toys, books, knick knacks and housewares."

The non-profit sells the items at Savers stores in the area to raise funds for its mentor programs. Murphy said some store locations are in Orange, Brookfield, Meriden and Waterbury.

Aside from donations, Murphy said Big Brothers Big Sisters is always looking for adults to volunteer as mentors.

For information, or to be a volunteer, call Big Brothers Big Sisters at 203-366-3766 or visit bbbsswct.org.

The truck will be at every Monroe Farmers' Market. The markets are held every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. For information on the farmers' market, visit monroefarmersmarket.org.
