Classic Car Show to Support Firefighter Stricken with Leukemia

A.J. Rogers, 19, was diagnosed on Jan. 13.

A.J. Rogers, 19, has a passion for tinkering with trucks, earning him the nickname of "Cooter" among his closest friends, after the affable mechanic on the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV show. In that vein, a free Classic Car Show has been planned for Saturday, July 21, in his honor.

Rogers was diagnosed with leukemia in January and the fundraiser will help the young firefighter to cover expenses while battling the disease.

Rogers is a volunteer firefighter for Stevenson Fire Co. and was studying to be a career firefighter as a student at Naugatuck Community College.
