Juggling & Cake at the End of Summer Reading Bash (Video)

Joe Murray and Susan Kirby of Airborne Jugglers gave families a show outside during the End of Summer Reading Bash at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library Wednesday evening. Watch a snippet of their performance in the short video with this story.

Michelle Turbak, the children's librarian, said the summer reading program was a success this year.

"I think we had over 900 children registered for summer reading," she said.

"That's a record for us," Library Dir. Margaret Borchers added.

Children in the Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Program read a total of 368,050 minutes between June 22 and Aug. 14, according to Turbak.

"Children going into grades K - 6 can continue to log their reading until school starts," she said. "I will be sending all of the reading logs to the Monroe Public Schools and St. Jude School for inclusion in the Governor's Summer Reading Challenge."

Turbak said 180 people attended Wednesday's picnic, where cake was served.
