Monroe Man Wins $10,000 a Month for Life

While we are still a few days away from the traditional festivities of the “Luck of the Irish,” Kevin Cahill of Monroe arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill earlier this week to celebrate some good luck of his own — his claim of the first “Win up to $10,000 a Month for Life” instant game top prize worth $10,000 a month, every month, for the rest of his life.

The Win up to $10,000 a Month for Life top prize is paid as $10,000 a month for life with guaranteed minimum total payout of $2.4 million (with the potential to be paid much more over the course of the winner’s lifetime), or as a one-time cash option payment of $2 million.

On Monday, Cahill, opting for the game’s $10,000 a month for life top prize, claimed the first of many prize checks in his future.

Monroe Food Mart, located at 487 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe, is also celebrating their good fortune. For selling Cahill his top prize “for life” winning ticket, the store will receive a $24,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.

“We’ve had several big winners in our store over the years,” Monroe Food Mart’s store manager Neil Patel said. “We sold a $1 million top prize ticket, three Cash5 top prize tickets, and now a $10,000 a month for life top prize ticket. We’re very excited for the winner and very happy for our lucky store.”

In addition to the “Win up to $10,000 a Month for Life” and the ever popular “Win for Life 19th Edition” game with a top prize worth up to $5,000 a month for life, the CT Lottery also offers two other “For Life” games: “Win up to $7,500 a Month for Life” and “Win up to $2,000 a Month for Life.”

Sales began for the Win up to $10,000 a Month for Life game on Sept. 9.

The overall chances of winning a prize are 1 in 3.67. Of the five top prizes in the game, four remain to be claimed.
