Monroe Patriotism on Display

Sunday's Memorial Day Parade attracted a huge crowd

Townspeople crowded along both sides of Monroe Turnpike to watch the Memorial Day Parade on a sunny, but humid Sunday afternoon.

Children played with balloons and scooped up candy thrown onto the street by members of town organizations as they marched or drove by. Many of the adults waived miniature American Flags and clapped, while seated in folding chairs.

The parade’s theme was “Honoring Our Heroes” Past and Present. The parade route began at the corner of Monroe Turnpike and Elm Street and ended at the Town Green.
