Plunge in the Park is this Sunday [VIDEO]

The Monroe Police Department teams up with the Special Olympics Connecticut to raise funds for the sporting event every year

Those participating in this year's Plunge in the Park may be warm and dry right now, but Sunday is coming fast and the frigid waters of Great Hollow Lake await.

The fundraiser, which benefits the Connecticut Special Olympics, will begin at 11 a.m. and the plunge will take place promptly at 1 p.m. Preregistration is strongly encouraged, but same day registrants are also welcome.

The Monroe Police Department and the Special Olympics co-sponsored the town's first Plunge last year, which raised nearly $3,500.
