Shoppers Stock Up at the Last Farmers' Market of the Year

This week will be the first one this fall without farm stands set up on the Town Green on Fan Hill Road. Last week, shoppers bought seafood and fresh produce and a group of musicians performed in the gazebo on a chilly Friday afternoon — on what was the last day of the season for the Monroe Farmers' Market.

"Sugar Maple is selling a lot of honey. Gazy Farm is selling a lot of vegetables," said Susan Muro, the market master. "People are stocking up because they know they're not gonna get it in a while. It's been a great season with great weather."
