Save Our Stepney volunteers decked out the historic Stepney Green in red, white and blue for Independence Day.
In SOS's annual "Flags Over Stepney" program 13 flags are set up, one for each of the original American colonies, for every patriotic day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, 911 Day and Veterans Day. Each flag is sponsored by a local family, local business or an organization in Monroe.
"We have been doing this since 2003," said Lee Hossler of SOS.
Stepney Green is at the corner of Main, Pepper and Green streets.
