What's a Farmers' Market Without Bacon?

Visitors to the Monroe Farmers' Market could always get fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood. This year you can add local pork to the list.

On Friday, Tom Truelove, of Truelove Farms in Morris, sold a ham steak brushed with a honey glaze and a spice rub sprinkled on top to one customer.

"You just grill it medium and you're done," Truelove said.

Truelove Farms has been in existence for four years and this is the first time it has been at the Monroe Farmers' Market. Truelove said he plans to be there every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Truelove has farm fresh eggs and pork — including sausage, ham and bacon.

He said bacon goes the quickest, adding, "Everyone loves bacon."

By July, Truelove said he expects to have grass-fed beef and poultry.

Cooking tips can be found on his website, truelovefarms.org.
