Oxford Cultural Arts Exhibit Features Monroe Artists

The Oxford Cultural Arts Commission announces the March Gallery of Art exhibit featuring the photography of two Monroe residents, Robert Cargill and Amanda Fredericks.

Robert Cargill is a professional photographer covering commercial, industrial, aerial and advertising photography. His assignments have included: architecture, beverages, food, products, interiors, nature, events and public relations. His specialty areas include: glass, bright metal, macro photography, plane-to-plane and aerial photography. His artistic images range from close-ups of flowers to local scenery.

Bob has been involved in community service with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, teaches continuing education photo courses at Masuk High School, Monroe and Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport. He is also president of the Monroe Arts Council, a member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Professional Aerial Photographers Association (PAPA) and a past member CT Professional Photographers (CPPA). His work has been exhibited in many area shows.

Amanda Fredericks is best-known for her equestrian and wildlife photos. She has been interested in photography since she was a little girl. She started with disposable and “point-and-shoot” cameras and upgraded to her first DSLR camera three years ago. She began her training under her mentor, Tony DeCosta of Horses in Motion Equine Photography, and attends many of his clinics.

Amanda has recently begun to expand into wedding and special event photography. A talented newcomer to the field of photography, Amanda is just beginning to show her work, and the Oxford Cultural Arts Commission is proud to present her art for the first time in a public exhibit in its current March Gallery of Art Show.

The exhibit is on display in the meeting room at the Stephen B. Church Memorial Town Hall at 486 Oxford Road, Oxford, and is open for viewing as of March 7 until the end of the month. The show can be seen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Monday through Thursday and until 7 p.m. every Monday and Thursday, when the meeting room is not in use.
