Phil's Hair Styling Manager to Appear on Jerseylicious

Lina Buzzelli, who grew up in Monroe, will be a judge on the reality TV show this Sunday

Monroe Patch caught up with Lina Buzzelli of Phil's Hair Styling on Monroe Turnpike. Buzzelli, who also authors a style and fashion blog on Patch with fellow beautician Anna Dora, will appear on an episode of Jerseylicious on the Style Network this Sunday at 8 p.m.

Buzzelli grew up in Monroe and graduated from Masuk High School in 1995. She and Marc, her husband of eight years, now live in Shelton with their son, Anthony Phillip.

What will you be doing on the show?

The Gatsby Salon, where the show is taped, was having an event with the Guinness World Record. The Gatsby wanted to see if they could beat the world record for the most haircuts in eight hours.

I was one of three professional hair judges checking their haircuts to make sure they were to the requirements of the Guinness people and that they were actual haircuts! Cut properly and not just a chop job!

How did you land the part?

Me and a few of my co-workers at Phil's were extras in Season 2 and were used in the background. I became friends with the casting producer, who called me at the end of February to see if I would be interested in being a judge for this episode. They were looking for hair professionals and he knew that, I'm not only a hairdresser, but a barber as well. I've been in the industry my entire life, since my father has owned Phil's for 30 years!

How do you feel about the opportunity?

I was flattered that he asked me! There are so many talented stylists out there and to be asked felt really good!

What was it like being on the set and working with the cast?

Well, since I met the cast prior to Season 2, I felt very comfortable. They are all so great! They all know me by first and last name and it felt like home! Gayle, the owner, is such a wonderful person. To have the show taped at her salon and with all of the cast and crew being very welcoming, we had a blast!

Is there anything you want to add?

My co-workers and I, along with some friends, will be watching the premier of Season 3 with the cast of Jerseylicious this Sunday in New Jersey! It should be a lot of fun ... and also, watch the whole season, because a few other employees of Phil's and Phil himself will also be on this season of Jerseylicious! Love that show!
