Firefighters Battling a Major Blaze On Howe Avenue

CTNewsAlert is reporting that 12-14 patients are being moved to a nearby firehouse for sheltering, no injuries reported.

Firefighters from several towns are battling major blaze at 446 Howe Avenue in Shelton, a mixed use building with businesses on the first floor and apartments on the upper floors.

The fire started over an hour ago and there were reports of an evacuation and a collapse on one side. The fire appears to have spread to a smaller building behind it.

Monroe and Stevenson firefighters are assisting Shelton, along with companies from Orange, Seymour, Stratford, Ansonia and Derby.

Ambulances and a YankeeGas van are also on the scene.
