Former Shelton Bank To Be Razed For Stop & Shop Gas Station

Written by Aaron Leo

Another Stop & Shop Gas Station is slated for Fairfield County.

Stop & Shop in the Shelton Square shopping center on Bridgeport Avenue will raze a former bank building next door to make way for a gas station.

Trumbull Stop & Shop Manager Mike Mancini said recently that the station is scheduled to open by the end of the year.

Shelton's Planning and Zoning Commission approved it last year.

Stop & Shop has gas stations in Ansonia, Fairfield and Milford. One was planned for Monroe but due to a technical error plans had be scrapped and refiled before Monroe Planning and Zoning officials.

The grocery chain typically charges lower prices for gas. Also, points from purchases can be redeemed at Shell stations.

There is a Shell Station on Main Street in Bridgeport and Route 111 in Trumbull.
