Monroe Brewery Gets Green Light

Maltose Express is looking to open a brewery and received the go-ahead from a Monroe land use commission this week.

Connecticut beer fans, rejoice - home brew shop Maltose Express is entering into the brewery biz!

A joyful message posted on the Maltose Express Facebook page gave us the 'hoppy' news:

"Happy Friday fellow Maltoseans! We went to the P&Z meeting last night and they approved us to have a brewery in Monroe! WOO HOO! It's been a great week! We want to thank everyone for all of their support. We have amazing customers and are so grateful for all of you!"

Maltose Express opened 23 years ago and sells beer and wine making ingredients, equipment and supplies, so you can create concoctions at home. 

Staff also host events in the shop or at local libraries. Here's a sampling of upcoming classes at Maltose Express:

  • Free 'How to Home Brew' Class on Saturday, March 8
  • Free 'Making Wine from Kits and Grape Juice' Class on Saturday, March 15
  • Honey Bee Keeping Class on Saturday, March 29
  • Mead Making Class on Saturday, April 5
