Several cars were in the Monroe Diner parking lot at 568 Main Street at 4 p.m. on Friday and a sign posted at the entrance says "Coming Soon!" But a staffer inside smiled and politely said it's not open yet.
"We'll open sometime next week," he said, though he would not give out an exact date.
The reason may be that the diner is planning to have a "soft opening" to get staffers into the flow, before a flood of patrons come in to try out the new restaurant.
Townspeople who miss the New Colony Diner are eagerly anticipating the opening of the diner and the staffer said the new business is just as anxious to open its doors.
