Tavern has been closed for a week, but the restaurant will reopen under new management on Thursday afternoon. An employee told Patch the business will now be operated by Robert Ryder and that food and drinks will be served once again at 3 p.m.

I wonder what happened. I think the place is doing well. Always seems to be a lot of people in the parking lot and in the place.

It's wierd, that location has seen many names come and go over the years, yet a place like The Smithy has stood the test of time.

Rob also owns The Inn at Newtown, and he has a lot of changes planned by way of service improvement and new menu options. As far as the reason the formers owners sold; they showed very strong numbers in the first full year, but decided to concentrate more on their lower Fairfield County operations.
