MONROE, CT, September 16, 2013—Hosted by the Monroe Economic Development Commission, the 11th annual Monroe Means Business will be held on October 17, 2013, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Waterview on 215 Roosevelt Drive, Route 34, overlooking the beautiful Lake Zoar. Now in its 11th year, this business-to-business networking & tabletop expo attracts developers, contractors, realtors, financial institutions and business people in and around Monroe to network and discuss business development in Monroe.
This year the commission will be
celebrating the achievements of three local companies that have consistently
displayed excellence in the way they serve their customers and how they support
the town of Monroe. Nominations and
voting of these companies will be drawn by soliciting input from the community. The three categories include: Beautification,
Best New Company/New Construction and Achievement. The three companies with the most votes in
each category will be honored as Business of the Year and will be given a few
minutes to tell their story at the awards presentation at Monroe Means
The campaign will run for four
weeks as follows:
The Monroe community is invited to nominate their favorite businesses in each of three categories, by visiting www.monroemeansbusiness.com. Nominations will be open through Friday, September 27, 2013. All nominated companies must be actively operating in Monroe, Connecticut to be eligible. Self-nominations are acceptable. Additional criteria for each category are available on the nomination form.
Once the nomination portion is completed, a list of all eligible nominated companies, in each category will be presented. The community is invited to vote for the business they feel is most deserving of each honor. Voting will open on October 1 and will remain open through the evening of October 17. Registered Monroe Means Business exhibitors will be invited to submit one more vote in each category on the evening of the event. A link to vote will be posted on the Monroe EDC website on October 1.
While all nominees will be given honorable mention, the top three nominees in each category will be highlighted at the awards ceremony at Monroe Means Business, where one company in each category will be honored as Business of the Year.

Monroe Means Business is a
wonderful way to network with board and commission members, financial
representatives, realtors and prospective and existing town
business owners. Along with highlighting successes over the last 11
years, the Commission will be looking for ways to continue to improve the
economic climate in Monroe in the future.
In addition to the networking
portion of the event, a Table Top Expo will be available to provide an
opportunity for business to showcase their products and services to the
professional community. Key personnel
from the Town of Monroe and the State will be on hand to answer questions and
discuss development opportunities in Monroe.
