'1800' Brand Tequila Recalled Due to Glass Danger

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection warns in this press release that small pieces of glass could be in the beverage.

The potential for glass particles in certain bottles of “1800” brand tequila has led to a national recall of three products, the Department of Consumer Protection announced.

Consumers who have purchased the following items are encouraged to heed the voluntary national recall announced by Agavera Camiches, S.A. de C.V, the brand owner of 1800 Tequila, and by Proximo Spirits, the importer of the product.

  • 1800 Tequila Coconut 1.75 liter
  • 1800 Tequila Silver 1.75 liter
  • 1800 Tequila Reposado 1.75 liter

The companies announced the voluntary recall after learning of potential damage to the bottles’ glass stoppers during transportation and handling.  While there have been no reports of consumer injuries, the potential of small particles of glass in the bottle could pose a health and safety risk. Only the 1.75 liter bottles are affected.

“The Department of Consumer Protection is communicating with Connecticut wholesalers who distribute the products to our liquor retailers, and we support the companies’ decision to voluntarily recall the items to safeguard consumers,” Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “While wholesalers and retailers are removing the recalled items from sale, consumers who already have these products at home can seek and receive a refund from the brand owner,” he said.

Consumers should check to see if they have affected product by comparing the first 9 digits of the 13-digit Lot Code, which can be found on the side of the bottle against the list of impacted product codes:

Consumers who have affected product should NOT consume it nor allow others to consume it.

Consumers with bottles subject to the recall may call the company at 866-795-8805 or email info@1800tequila.com for more information or to seek a refund. Consumers calling for a refund must be 21 years of age or older and will be asked to provide their name, date of birth, address, phone number and email address, as well as the Lot Code which is printed on the bottle. In addition, consumers will be asked where and when they purchased the product as well as how much they paid for the item. The company states that refunds will be issued in approximately 2 to 4 weeks.

I found that I could turn them off in my profile under e-mail settings. However, it appears thatRead More this is now an all or nothing rather than by selected posts or individual articles.

Hi Steve, The comment stream doesn't appear on the homepage in the new design. Some of the sitesRead More that went 2.0 before mine did heard complaints about that. I don't know if it will be changed or not. Right now Patch is gathering all feedback.

Perhaps a unique ID sent out yearly with you tax bill or something like that? Or I think what mightRead More be better is rather than crossing off names manually on a sheet of paper when you go to vote, they should use a computer system. This would allow you to travel to the closest polling place (Not across town as is the case with me.)

They don't ask you for ID to fill out an absentee! No difference, IMO.

That's why I stated, "two MAIN groups of VOTERS": 1. Parent's who always vote YES - theyRead More want as much $$$ for education as possible. 2. People who always vote NO, regardless of budget - they don't want to pay more in taxes. These groups have an obvious reason to vote. After that, it starts to get fragmented. I really haven't seen much literature from the "Parents who don't want more taxes" group.

@John, never said we should freeze spending till everyone can afford it, no need to be a dramaRead More queen. And it is none of your business what I have done for others. But what I have not done, is belittle those that can't afford a tax increase and pretend I am better than them.

No one's expecting anything different! Monroe benefits from wealthier resident, not poorer ones!Read More That's the hard and rash truth. I'm not saying it's right or honest! It's to the town's benefit to price people out of their homes as disgusting as that may sound.

Being unemployed is also finite, that's why it's a good idea to create a 12 month householdRead More emergency fund. No one forces someone to purchase a home without this emergency fund.
