Church Bell to Ring 26 Times for Sandy Hook School Victims

Gov. Malloy will join local officials in a moment of silence in Newtown on Dec. 21, which has been declared a "Day of Mourning" in Connecticut.

Trinity's church bell will ring 26 times tomorrow — once for each of the victims of the Sandy Hook School shooting.

Gov. Dannell P. Malloy just announced that he and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will join Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra and other local elected officials and residents on the steps of Edmond Town Hall for a moment of silence in memory of the tragedy that hit the town on Dec. 14. Officials will congregate on the steps at 9:28 a.m., with the moment of silence beginning at 9:30 a.m.

During the memorial, bells from the nearby Trinity Episcopal Church will ring 26 times in memory of each life lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School. There will be no formal remarks given.

Earlier this week, Malloy proclaimed Friday a “Day of Mourning” in the State of Connecticut, and asked residents statewide to participate in a moment of silence and bell ringing at 9:30 a.m. He also wrote the nation’s governors, inviting each state in the country to participate in the reflection on this day.

It was a sunny day with bright yellow flowers growing in front of the gazebo, but you can't see thatRead More from how it was positioned. I'll eventually be able to change the home background myself. But not yet unfortunately. You're right, though. It would be nicer to have the leaves on the trees etc.
