High winds knocked out power to 1,355 Monroe homes and businesses Wednesday night, according to CL&P's outage map. Lt. Brian McCauley said trees went into wires and across roads.
"A half dozen roads were blocked off and some were cleared immediately because no wires were involved," McCauley said Thursday morning.
He said officers are directing traffic at two road closings on Wheeler Road, at Beaver Circle, and on Route 59 at Stanley Road.
Of CL&P's 7,911 Monroe customers, 17% are without power.
