CL&P Reports That 17% of Monroe is Without Power

High winds hits the area on Wednesday night.

High winds knocked out power to 1,355 Monroe homes and businesses Wednesday night, according to CL&P's outage map. Lt. Brian McCauley said trees went into wires and across roads.

"A half dozen roads were blocked off and some were cleared immediately because no wires were involved," McCauley said Thursday morning.

He said officers are directing traffic at two road closings on Wheeler Road, at Beaver Circle, and on Route 59 at Stanley Road.

Of CL&P's 7,911 Monroe customers, 17% are without power.

Okay, but what's the status? My mom, who's 80 years old, on a main road, has no power... again. What's the estimated time of repair?

Sorry to hear this, and hope residents get power back soon. The high winds seem to have moved southward to northern NJ just west of NYC where today's weather is a godsend ONLY for those flying kites.

One would think C L & P would "get" the importance of communication. I moved to Monroe from Fairfield (UI territory) and C L & P could take a lesson: ALWAYS within 2 to 4 hours of outages UI was repirting estimated time of restoration. Get it?

Yeah I got an estimate of 3 hours.....and that was 8 hours ago!

my power always comes back within 30 seconds
Alex February 01, 2013 at 06:58 PM
Is that because you have a standby generator? Otherwise, you must have been out for a little more than 30 seconds during Irene or Sandy.
Geezer February 01, 2013 at 09:47 PM
@Alex Yes after Irene and the snow storm last year we had a standby generator installed.
