Five Injured in Multi-Car Merritt Parkway Crash

Though three cars were heavily damaged in the accident on Route 15 northbound Monday, the five individuals involved all suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A three-car on Route 15 northbound sent five people to the hospital, all with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. between exits 52 and 53 in Stratford.

All occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash were able to exit their cars before fire and emergency officials arrived, according to Fire Marshal Brian Lampart.

Though the accident is still under investigation, Lampart said it was likely the result of a chain reaction that started when one driver rear-ended another. All three cars were heavily damaged, he said.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was notified and responded to the scene because one of the vehicles had a significant fuel spill, Lampart said.
