Tree of Light Ceremony at Edith Memorial Library [VIDEO]

Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut held its 22nd annual Tree of Light Ceremonies on Thursday.

Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut's Tree of Light is illuminated with green, blue and white lights to symbolize comfort, dignity and peace. Monroe's tree was lit following a ceremony at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library Thursday night.

There was singing and a memorial roll of the names of the deceased was read. First Selectman Steve Vavrek read the names of U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan.

Donations to the event support the VNS Hospice at Home program.
