Why are you running?

Serving on the Board of Education is an enormous responsibility, yet one of the most rewarding jobs I could ever undertake. As a parent of two children currently in the Monroe public school system, I believe that I can offer ideas that will continue to improve the education in Monroe while offering cost saving and responsible solutions.

What are the three biggest issues facing Monroe?

1) Economic Development

2) Taxes

3) Education

What can the Board of Education do to keep the town in the right direction?  The Board of Education will need to continue to work smarter to support the needs of our students. We need to look at issues such as enrollment and how we can align our schools with declining enrollment. We need to continue to improve the STEM model and how that can be expanded.

What skills and attributes make you a good fit for the Board of Education?

I believe I am uniquely qualified for the position as I will draw on my corporate experience in finance and marketing, as well as my community involvement in both school and town programs. These experiences have enabled me to be an effective communicator, willingness to compromise to achieve goals, a decision maker, and a team player who will promote the Board of Education’s vision and goals.

What do you think of the new Common Core Standards school districts are adopting?

Common Core Standards is newly implemented and with anything new there will be challenges that come with it. I have read a lot on Common Core and will continue to keep myself updated on this issue. Monroe has done a great job implementing Common Core Standards, however I believe that we will need to continually monitor and make necessary adjustments.
