Editor's Note: Steve Vavrek's video won't open here. Here's a hyperlink to a playable video.

These two videos are the first in a series from Thursday night's First Selectman Debate during the Monroe Chamber of Commerce's Pizza & Politics event at Roberto's Restaurant, 505 Main Street.

Daniel Hunsberger, the Democratic Party challenger, went first after First Selectman Steve Vavrek won a coin toss and deferred. The candidates alternated answering questions after that. They had three minutes each with optional one minute rebuttals at the end.

In these two videos, Hunsberger and Vavrek, the incumbent Republican, make their opening statements.

Pat LaVoie, second vice president of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors, served as moderator.
