Monroe's municipal elections are heating up down the stretch with three events giving voters the chance to hear candidates' stances on the issues.

First Selectman Steve Vavrek and his challenger, Daniel Hunsberger will answer questions side-by-side at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce's Pizza & Politics event at Roberto’s Restaurant, 505 Main Street, this Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m.

It costs $20 to attend and the evening includes pizza, salad, soda and coffee.

WMNR’s Fine Arts Forum will present two separate half hour interviews with the first selectman candidates this Sunday, starting at 5 p.m. 

First Selectman Steve Vavrek and challenger Daniel Hunsberger will be asked a series of policy questions on the key issues facing the town of Monroe. Topics will include taxes, economic development, capital projects, infrastructure maintenance and roads in the current challenging economic environment.

The program will be broadcast in the Monroe area on WMNR, at both 88.1 FM and 90.1 FM, on Sunday, Nov. 3. WMNR founder John Babina will be the MC.

A Candidate Forum

First Selectman candidate Dan Hunsberger and fellow candidates from the Democratic Party slate reserved space at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library for a meet the candidates event on Nov. 2 (The only date that was available, according to Hunsberger) from 2 to 4 p.m.
