For the Betterment of Monroe - Accountability and Spending Control

What are the three biggest issues facing Monroe?

1) Better Planning and Communications

2) Measurement and Accountability

3) Increase Economic Development and Control of Expenses

What can the Town Council do to keep the town in the right direction?

Town Council can greatly assist the First Selectman and other Boards and Commissions to set the proper vision, direction and format  for planning and processes for accountability.

We can make sure that there is a viable and  living capital projects and maintenance plan for all buildings and vehicles under town control. Follow the plan, know who is responsible for specific parts and know what they are doing to fulfill their obligation.

We need to communicate ideas and processes so that we can enhance all our  methods using multiple viewpoints to provide the best possible ideas functionality and strategies. We can help control spending through proper planning.

What skills and attributes make you a good fit for Town Council?

I am a planner. I have developed, marketed and implemented plans and products in the Coast Guard and in industry. I have an BS in Marine Science and an MBA in Management Sciences and Economics. I have attended the National Defense University, Naval War College and Crosby Quality College  as a senior educator and logistics planner and was awarded both the CG Commendation and CG Achievement Medals for education and logistics planning, processes and results.

I have been General Manager of a very successful 60 million division of a technology company.  I have designed and  implemented  processes and procedures that have significant enhanced the capabilities  with the USCG and the bottom lines of six public companies.

I currently work as an Measurement, Assessment and Accreditation Consultant for two Connecticut Universities. I know the working of Town Council and its interaction with town officials and other Boards and Commissions. This knowledge is very important in getting projects and processes enhanced for the town of Monroe.

I have seen and been a member of the foundation of planning with the Capital Project Committee and the AD Hoc Maintenance Committee. These are major opportunities that have to be properly managed here in Monroe. I am a certified Process Reengineering Facilitator.

As a Councilman I have been  involved in developing  our current  Senior Tax Relief program which provides significant cost  control to our taxes by keeping housing in the hands of Seniors.  I look forward to enhancing this program.  I support an active Economic Development plan to help relieve some of the residential tax burden.

I ask for your support in continuing my work for a better Monroe.
