First Selectman Calls for Food Drives at Town Meetings

First Selectman Steve Vavrek appealed to fellow elected officials to collect donations for the Monroe Food Pantry during their board meetings.

On Tuesday night he read this letter at the Town Council meeting:

To All Council and Board Members,

As I'm sure most of you know, our Monroe Food Pantry, as have all such Pantries, have experience Federal cuts this year. This has happened while the need for services has increased.

I would like to try to put together a food drive from all town boards, commissions and committees. If each of you could bring food for the pantry to your meetings, we will be able to make a huge difference for Thanksgiving, through the holidays and beyond.

There are labeled boxes in the Town Hall lobby and Land Use lobby as well as in the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library where your donations can be dropped off.

Thank you all for all you do and for helping your neighbors.

Thank you,

Steve Vavrek
First Selectman
