Christmas & Civility

Our Christmas (or holiday) gifts are not just the materials things we give but the way we live our lives with others.

I found this wonderful quote that I would like to share.

“Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.” ~ Oren Arnold

I like it because it reminds us that our Christmas (or holiday) gifts are not just the materials things we give but the way we live our lives with others, the things that come from our heart: forgiveness, tolerance, love, service, charity, a good example, respect.

All of which speak to our civility, our loving others, in these joyous days!

Feliz Navidad!

This is a concise, compelling message, just right for our discourse today. Most of us can find no argument against it... until we grow angry over something we read online. I wish more people who respond to blog posts and online stories would subscribe to your call to tolerance and forgiveness, using their actual names instead of the pen names that attempt to license hurtful words. Certainly everyone is entitled to his opinion. Rudeness, however, is not an opinion. It is only poor manners. Thanks again for your words.
