A Skunk Crawls in Through the Cat Door

A skunk crawled through a cat door to enter a garage on Field Rock Road and when the homeowner opened her garage the next morning, the animal's foreleg became entangled in the rollers and track, causing an open compound fracture, according to an Aug. 20 police report.

While inside the garage, the skunk ate rat poison and got into a bag of Grubex, Monroe Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said.

The animal was later captured in a box and removed from the garage. After being examined by a veterinarian, the skunk had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries.
