Bird Feeder + Birds + Rodents = Bobcats

A Misty Lane man reported seeing a bobcat in his yard in May, then again on July 5. Monroe Animal Control Officer Ed Risko says bird feeders are attracting the wildcat.

"The bird feeders are not only attracting birds, but chipmunks, squirrels and other rodents to the site, as well as predators, i.e. bobcat who feed on the rodents," Risko said.

He said it was recommended that the homeowner stop feeding birds at this time of year.

A bobcat sheet with common cautions was provided. For more information on that, check out this past Patch story: "There's a Bobcat in My Yard! What Do I Do?"
