Motorists Comfort Injured Coyote, Mistaking It for a Dog

After a coyote was struck by a vehicle on Cutlers Farm Road around 8:20 Tuesday night, passing motorists mistaking her for a dog moved the injured coyote to the side of the road and were petting the animal to comfort her, according to Monroe Animal Control.

The animal later died from a head injury and her remains were removed for cremation, Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said.

He said the young female coyote, which weighed about 30 pounds, was hit on the stretch of Cutlers Farm Road between Great Oak Farm and Pepper Street.
