Skunk Chases a Wild Turkey, Follows Woman in Her Yard

An Old Newtown Road woman reported seeing a skunk chasing after a wild turkey in her yard at 1:34 p.m. on Oct. 10, then told police it tried to follow her before she avoided the animal by locking herself inside her fenced garden.

The skunk eventually left the property, walking into the tree line, and an officer who searched for it could not find it. Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said there were no exposures and no testing was required.

Risko said skunks are omnivores. Skunks hunt small rodents, but not something as big as a turkey.

In another incident involving a skunk, an officer euthanized a sick or injured skunk in a yard on Hannah Lane on Oct. 10.
