A Presentation On the History of Monroe's Rails

The Monroe Historical Society elects new board members at its annual meeting.

Robert Belletzkie's narrated video presentation on "The Iron Horse in Monroe 1840-1963" drew a standing room crowd of nearly 100 to the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library Saturday.

Belletzkie's talk traced the evolution of the four railway station sites that once operated in Monroe — Stepney, Stevenson, Purdy Crossing and Monroe, off Hammertown.

His appearance was sponsored by the library and the Monroe Historical Society.
