Community Corner

Thank You Enid

The following is a Letter to the Editor from Debra Dutches, former Town Council member and a newly elected member of the Board of Finance.

Thank you Enid:

I have had the privilege of serving with Enid Lipeles, first when I was Chairman of the Board of Education and the last two years as a member of the Town Council. Enid worked tirelessly to do what needed to be done day and night; email, phone, in person; at the gym, the grocery store, Town Hall, all of our schools, any place in town they served coffee or lunch. She supports every aspect of this community with her presence, her generosity, her dedication, and her spirit.

Unless you’ve been in a leadership position it’s easy to criticize and very difficult to understand how much goes into preparing, presenting, mediating, and resolving all that is required to move Monroe forward in the best interest of the community.

The accomplishments under her leadership are too numerous to count, they far outnumber anyone’s anonymous criticisms, are a result of many resolved controversies, and will continue to make Monroe a better place everyday.

There are many volunteers who keep us going, growing and thriving. I am thankful that Enid will continue to top that list, that she will remain dedicated to this town, and hopeful that she will find the time to enjoy more good books, travel and friends.

My Warmest Regards and Heartfelt Thanks as you continue your service on Town Council,

Debbie Dutches
