Weinberg Asks Resident for Their Vote

Editor's Note: A number of Patch users are having trouble with their sign ons, so I posted this letter from Jim Weinberg.

Dear Monroe,

This year I decided to separate my campaign from the MRTC; primarily because I want to emphasize my vision of “RESPONSIBLE PLANING AND ZONING” without it reflecting on the MRTC or other candidates who may view things differently.

P and Z in our town, while having made great strides still faces some considerable challenges.  PnZ Commissions are often seen as operating with heavy handed arrogance; doing things because they can, not because its right. Our leadership Pat O’Hara and Bill Porter have diligently moved the commission away from this mold.  Some of this is demonstrate-able, with new regulations and a more uniform and friendly reception for applicants at the meetings. PnZ also works with a professional staff. It is easy for us to fall back on the advice from staff as a ‘safe” approach, yet this is to ignore our role as your representatives. Under O’Hara and Porter, we have moved away from this , making decisions we believe conform with the wishes of the town, even when it may conflict with desires of staff.

I ask for your vote so I can continue your work on the P and Z, moving the town toward “RESPONSIBLE PLANNING AND ZONING”, supporting good development while maintaining the rural character we desire.  If you believe this is the right vision for our town, please vote for the Republican team including myself and our leaders Pat O’Hara and Bill Porter, without whom we cannot continue making this your PnZ Commission.
