Necessity The Mother of Invention.
A sad day in Monroe. I'm glad the sun is shining at least. Now I, like many others, have to get the thinking cap on and work out where the extra budget cash I have to pay is going to come from. Yes that's right, there is no one I can tax to come up with the extra. Now the fiscal reality of doing more with less is the challenge imposed on me. Interestingly those that have subjected me to this are the same ones that said its impossible for them to continue on without raising extra cash ( from us ). But this is not a sob story, the battle was won and lost fairly, this is a call to action. I will HAVE to find the cash by pursuing every idea and approach, some more acceptable than others, until I find my solutions. Now we are 12 months out from next years budget. I call on all our town officials, committee members, volunteers, any and every one of those hard working folks........ find the ways to deliver great services and a great education for less money. That means some things will have to be done differently. Big changes are needed. Embrace the challenge. If you don't make the challenge hard, you are defeated before you start. Set targets for yourselves to achieve a tax reduction, then we might stand a chance of at least a zero increase. If you had no extra cash from us, you would find a way, you would have to. When you have to, that necessity becomes the mother of invention. Let's move forward Monroe.
