Monroe Youth Basketball Leagues for Grades 3-12

It's not too late to register for Monroe Youth Basketball Leagues. You can still sign up before player evaluations.

There still is time to register for the youth basketball leagues.  Player evaluations start Tuesday, 12/5.  Be sure to register by then to participate.  An email blast will be sent out to those registered and paid detailing the times and locations of player evaluations.  (Please ensure your household account is set up to accept these email notifications from the Parks and Recreation Department.)  This information is now posted on our website, monroerec.org.

The Basketball Leagues offered by Parks and Recreation provide an opportunity for boys and girls to become acquainted with the skills and techniques necessary to play the game.  Participation, skill development, sportsmanship and fun will be emphasized over competition.  All registration is based on grade as follows:

Girls Grade 3 and 4:  Monday & Tuesday practices.  Thursday games at Fawn Hollow.

Boys Grades 3 and 4:  Monday, Wednesday and Friday practices.  Saturday games at Fawn Hollow.

Girls Grades 5 through 8:  Due to insufficient registration in the past, the girls 5/6 and 7/8 leagues have been combined into one league for girls grades 5-8.  If there is sufficient registration, then we will have leagues for grades 5/6 and 7/8.  Practices will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at Chalk Hill, Jockey Hollow or Stepney Elementary.  Games will be held Saturday mornings at Chalk Hill or Jockey Hollow.

Boys Grade 5 and 6:  Practices will be on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings at Stepney Elementary.  Games are scheduled on either Monday/Thursday evenings or Saturday afternoons at Chalk Hill.

Boys Grade 7 and 8:  Practices will be on Monday, Thursday or Friday evenings at Jockey Hollow or Stepney Elementary.  Games are scheduled on either Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings at Jockey Hollow.

Johnny G High School League:  College division for boys and girls in grade 9 and 10.  Pro division for boys and girls in grade 11 and 12.  This league will begin with open gym play in early December.

Leagues will play a nine or ten game season, generally running December through March 30.  The fee is $130 per player which includes their basketball shirt.  The third child in the family pays half price.  Register on the Parks and Recreation website, monroerec.org.  Submit payment to Parks and Recreation office at Chalk Hill or mail (7 Fan Hill Road).

Hi Steve, To stop getting emails for every comment under a story, when you're signed on, click underRead More "Hi Steve" at the top of the page, and choose Email Settings from the dropdown menu. There's an option titled "Comments", uncheck the box that is automatically checked so you will no longer receive comment updates by email.

I found that I could turn them off in my profile under e-mail settings. However, it appears thatRead More this is now an all or nothing rather than by selected posts or individual articles.

Hi Steve, The comment stream doesn't appear on the homepage in the new design. Some of the sitesRead More that went 2.0 before mine did heard complaints about that. I don't know if it will be changed or not. Right now Patch is gathering all feedback.
