Parks and Recreation offers Skyhawks Summer Camp

Since 1979, Skyhawks Sports has led safe, fun and skill-focused sports camps and programs for youth between the ages of 4-12. They offer different sports and countless ways for your child to grow. The camps range from golf to soccer to our popular multi-sport camp where kids sample several different sports in one camp.  All programs are at Wolfe Park and meet at the basketball courts the first day of each program.

For details on the following Skyhawks activities and to register please visit the Parks and Recreation website at www.monroerec.org.   Register early so that programs are not cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. 

Beginning Golf– Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting and body positioning. Using the SNAG (Starting New at Golf) system, Skyhawks has simplified instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course.  All equipment is provided.  Program is for children ages 5-8 and 9-11.  It will be held July 21-25 from 9-12.  Fee:  $115 res/$125 non-res.

Flag Football - Skyhawks flag football is the perfect program for your young athletes who want an introduction to America's Game or for those who simply want to brush up on their skills in preparation for league play.  Boys and girls learn skills on both sides of the ball including the core components of passing, catching and defense – all in a fun and positive environment.  Program is for ages 7-12 and will be held July 7-11 from 9-12.  Fee:  $115 res/$125 non-res.

Mini-Hawk – Skyhawks multi-sport programs are tailored to your child’s age and skill level while teaching life lessons such as respect and teamwork.  The Mini-Hawk program gives children ages 4-7 a fun and positive first step into athletics.  The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun.  Session 1 is June 23-27 from 9-12.  Session 2 is July 7-11 from 9-12.  Fee:  $115 res/$125 non-res.

Multi-Sport - This camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports (soccer, baseball, basketball flag football) in one setting.   Athletes will learn the rules and essential skills of each sport.  Program is for ages 7-12.  Session 1 is June 23-27 from 9 am -3 pm.  Session 2 is July 28-August 1 from 9 am -3 pm.  Fee:  $135 res/$145 non-res.

Soccer – Using a progressive curriculum, Skyhawks staff will ensure your young athlete gains the technical skills & sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. This camp focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. By the end of the camp your child will have learned new life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship, made new friends, and improved their sport skills preparing them to play for the playground or league play! Program for ages 5-7 and 7-12 will be held July 14-18 from 9-12.  Fee:  $115 res/$125 non-res.

 Weather Policy

Unfortunately, Skyhawks and the Parks and Recreation Department cannot provide refunds for cancellations or postponements that are weather related.  In the case of extreme weather conditions, the director at each site may cancel or postpone the program for the safety of the participants.  To determine if there is a cancellation or postponement, please check the Parks and Recreation Department's cancellation line at 339-6106 after 8am.  Please  note, Skyhawks' 1-800 telephone number may not have updated weather information.  In the rare event of a program cancellation, your child will not be left alone.  The onsite director will ensure that every participant is picked up by a parent, guardian or by the emergency contact.
