From the Farm: Rain, Rain Go Away!

Mother Nature.

We all know about death and taxes. They are inevitable and unavoidable (unless you are GE).

Then there is the weather. We can always break that awkward silence with weather talk and there is now a TV channel devoted to it 24/7/365. After this winter's constant barrage of snow and the rain soaked April, I had thought we might be in for a nice dry spell. Sun soaked days to lift spirits and grow my plants. Oh well.

I've been searching for that silver lining in all this rain. Mosquitoes and mushrooms! That's about all I've found that will be coming out of this constant rain.

So I shall look a little deeper! As luck has it I married an excellent hanging basket and container garden designer. Garden centers have all caught on to this craze by now. You can find planters and hanging baskets stuffed with different plants putting on a colorful show. Here at O'Hara's Nursery we have a greenhouse full of beautiful baskets and planters. I get to enjoy them on these rainy days.

Perhaps if the weather has you feeling gray you can visit any of Monroe's great garden centers for some spring color to bring the sun back out?
