A DUI Arrest at Stevenson Dam

An Oxford man was arrested for DUI near the Stevenson Dam at around 9:54 p.m. on June 19.

Peter Kutniak, 52, of Tram Drive was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane. He was released on $500 bond for a July 1 court date.

Police said an officer observed Kutniak's Nissan Pathfinder cross over the center line on Route 111, near Bagburn Road, then go over the fog line. He made a wide turn onto Route 34, crossed over the fog line on the shoulder, then over-corrected it, police said.

The officer signaled for the Pathfinder to stop in a safe location, according to police, who said Kutniak instead continued driving for another "couple hundred feet" and stopped at Stevenson Dam.

Kutniak had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him and field sobriety tests led to his arrest, police said.
