A DUI Arrest On Main Street

An officer on patrol observed a 1999 Ford Explorer pulled partially off the road — blocking a lane of traffic — close to the 400-block of Main Street at around 6:26 p.m. on Oct. 19 and when police approached the Ford began to pull away, according to the report.

The driver, Manuel Torres, 59, of Roosevelt Street in Bridgeport, soon stopped at the officer's command, police said.

The officer was able to detect the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage on Torres' breath and field sobriety tests determined he was under the influence, leading to his arrest, police said. Breath tests at police headquarters showed a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, according to the report.
